The Sandcastle Waterworld at South Beach is one of Blackpool’s most popular attractions, with its wide range of activities for the entire family.

It is the UK’s premiere indoor waterpark which was opened in 1986. The complex has 4 pools that have wave machines, swirling slides, flumes, tubes, jacuzzis and currents. The centre also has a dry area, with arcade machines, and a children’s zone with karaoke, an entertainer, limbo competitions and a host of other activities.

The Waterworld has the World's longest indoor roller coaster ride the Master Blaster and the white knuckle Sidewinder. It has another 4 large waterslides, many smaller ones, a lazy river, a pirate Galleon and a Caribean Storm tree house.The Masterblaster is the first uphill ride of it's type. Travelling at roof height around the entire waterpark the monster slide snakes it's way onto the promenade before crashing back into the building again. Massive water jets propel riders up the great inclines and steep ravines of the 250 metre super-chute.

The jets of water used to power the ride pump 2,380 000 litres - 532,642 gallons of water per hour. That is the equivalent of an entire olympic swimming pool's worth of water gushing through the ride every single hour. The Sidewinder is a vertical drop thrill ride where gravity takes its own course. Riders are tipped off the edge of a steep ravine into a giant U shaped runway.

Operation of the centre was taken over by the Blackpool Council in 2003. The Waterworld has won many awards and is a hot favourite with tourists.
